I'm on a mission to do my part to inspire people to take their health and well-being seriously and to get the most out of life. One way to do this is to be proactive about SELF-CARE. We're so busy taking care of and loving others that we often forget to lavish the same care and love on ourselves.
Self-care doesn't have to mean exhausting the family budget during a shopping spree or getting over-priced treatments from that trendy spa across town. There are many inexpensive, simple ways to incorporate self-care into your busy day: take five minutes to enjoy a hot cup of tea, schedule a meditation break in the middle of the day or indulge in a long, nurturing bath at the end of the day--just to name a few.

My favorite relaxation technique is cuddling up with a blanket, a great book, and a good drink (hot tea, lemonade). My ultimate favorite is a massage, but they are way too expensive.

ReplyDeleteMy relaxation time is in the evening. My daughter goes to sleep at 7 (and is the best sleeper ever) and I have all kinds of time with my husband at night. After that time, I take my shower at night when I won't be bothered by anyone or the hectic nature of the morning. I could take a 20 minute shower if I wanted (which I do occasionally) and I'd have no one bother me!

ReplyDeleteIf I really need to de-stress, I'll find a good book, its the best way to forget troubles ASAP. For more physical relaxing, its a really hot bath for me. I run it hot enough that I turn pink, and then have to add cold when I start to feel dizzy. Terrible waste of hot water, but really good when I'm feeling a bit ill, cold, or tired.
