Angel Food Ministries

Today is 2008 Blog Action Day where over 10,000 blogs reach out at once to raise awareness on a particular issue. Today we are all focusing on "poverty."

For those of you who may not know, I would like to bring to your attention, an organization called Angel Food Ministries. Angel Food Ministries is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing food relief and contributing to benevolent outreaches in communities throughout the United States.

Angel Food provides high-quality food items by the box, "add on" packages and prepared, nutritional meals for seniors for about $30 per month. The actual cost of these items, if you were to purchase them from your local supermarket, would be approx. $65. Angel Food is able to offer food at this low cost because of private and corporate donations, bulk purchasing and because volunteers provide the labor.

With more families loosing their home to foreclosure, primary earners loosing their jobs and everything else that is going on with our economy right now, it's comforting to know there are people and organizations out here who are ready and willing to help.

Learn more about Angel Foods Ministries and offer a gift in the form of volunteering your time or a few dollars so this organization can continue to provide high quality food to families in need. Watch their promotional video below.

  1. Thank you for stopping by my blog yesterday. The statistics are amazing, aren't they? I hope one day soon that poverty will be a thing of the past. Children should not have to starve!

  2. You're welcome. Yes, the statistics are staggering. The US can spend nearly a trillion dollars to rescue big business but expect families (the ones seeking the assistance of food stamps) to feed their families on $3/day. This has always been outrageous to me but it wasn't until middle-class Americans found themselves in the welfare office that people started paying attention to our national disparities.
